Bill & Cheryl's Wedding take 2

You can't script this kind of stuff. This is just a point-and-shoot keeper. That's all that is. Same with this frightening hip shot I took of Peter during one of his rants about something--or nothing.

We had a Davidson photo in the works here. I don't know what happened with it. It's been long enough now that I don't know why I shot it like this. Gives you a nice idea of how beautiful the location was. We were enjoying the chilly and windy sunset over the St. Mary's River.

Obviously this was the right mix of people, place and occasion to make this weekend a blast. Yes, Jamie has a binky attached to his suit. It's for his son. Or so I'm told.

Bill and Cheryl's Wedding

Bill and Cheryl were wed on October 28th, 2006 in St Mary's County Maryland. It was a beautiful setting and a great gathering of people. We blew into town on our way back from Massachusetts where we had been visiting with Heather's family. This was the last leg of Lucy's first big adventure.

The weekend started with a crab feast at Scheibel's. Bill gave a demonstration on how to get into your dinner. Charlie Gibbon's showed off his first course. You can get a closer look by clicking on a photo.
The next day we got to test our sea legs and also view from the water the spot where Bill and Cheryl would say "I do." The weather was a little iffy and the water was downright rough when we got out into the Chesapeake. By that time your photographer was concentrating on keeping his breakfast, not photography. Charlotte and Jeff didn't know how rough the water was about to get. Shortly after they merely were sprinkled by the water (below) they got good and wet. Captain Charlie built the boat himself, by the way.
This area of Maryland is significant, because Catholic settlers from England were looking for a new life free from the Anglican church. The arrived in a boat very similar to the one above and started a new life here. You can see above the State House, which was Maryland's first state capital. The white area between the boat in the State House, obscured slightly by the trees is the tent where Bill & Cheryl's reception was. The grassy area in front of the State House is where they had the wedding.

That evening was the welcome dinner followed by the roast and toast. Everybody had a good time. Bill's mom, Martha, and Cheryl's brother, David shared some laughs and got to know each other better.
Of course some of Bill's "dirtbag" friends, as he called them had no problem airing some of Bill's dirtier laundry--including stories of his old, red sweatpants. Bill handled all of this with aplomb and only an occasional protest.


This blogging stuff can be time consuming! I have some good reception photos to share. More to come!
